It takes a thousand steps
to get to Spirit.
From the roots in the Earth.
Across the waters of the Ocean.
Through the fires of the Will.
The staircase is not easy to follow,
some never make it this far.
There is a quiet stretch where it feels like you are
making no progress at all,
finding your way with your sore hands on the hard stone,
the air dark and heavy.
It can be maddening…
until a whole new world of fresh air
opens up and you can breathe again.
The staircase continues up the mountain side for another stretch of quiet.
Each step becomes lighter but again it seems like walking in place.
If you just keep going everything starts to opens up
once more and you can feel the summit is near.
As you approach you realize you have traveled farther then you could have ever imagined.
You see the climb you have made and can’t even recognize the You that started the journey.
Then all climbing stops.
No steps remain.
Now you must sit,
and soar to Spirit.
When the Soul and Spirit reunite,
you can see that not only did Spirit built
the perfect journey home for Soul,
but it guided you through every step.
