Demon

Demon Slayer

The demons I have,
I invite them to sit with me for tea
or sake
as the time of day permits.

To join me at this meeting
one must set all weapons aside.

Metal clangs on the cool of stone
as my guests remove their arms.

When they are close and
sitting in front of me,
instead of lurking behind,
or looming on the horizon,
they lose all power over me.

And from this ceremony
they teach me the wisdom
they are guarding
as I am ready to receive it.

When our ritual is done
the weapons return to demon
hands and the dance continues once more,
until the next stage of my learning begins.
